Whew. Thoughtbubble yesterday was exhausting!
Woke up at 4am, train at 5.30, all seemed to be going amazingly smoothly, my change at Manchester was fine, then suddenly the train stopped at Huddersfield for an awfully long time, and then anybody going to Leeds was turfed off and told to get another train on another platform.
Slightly confused, I made my way to the platform to be confronted with a train packed to Tokyo rush hour standards and the guards saying we would have to wait for the next one, and to get to Leeds we'd have to use this route, but it'd take an extra hour! None of the people trying to get to Leeds still had any idea why we couldn't just get there normally, but gradually, through various bits of info, we pieced together that the copper signal wire had been stolen overnight somewhere between Huddersfield and Newcastle! The train had to therefore do a merry tour of Yorkshire to the Bradford interchage and double back in order to reach Leeds!
So after really horrible journey, the actual con was pretty nice. Sales weren't as spectacular as Birmingham (though not bad, considering this was one day, not two) it seemed that small press groups in general didn't do fantastically well, but it was still fun. It was just me and Sally this time on our table, which is a bit more tiring than having four people to spread the load! Saw Emma Vieceli and Sonia Leong, who also ran manga panels and were lovely as always, as well as Toffeeliz from the SD forums, who it was nice to meet in person!
Bought some nice books, though not as many as Birmingham because a lot of the same groups were there this time too! Dragon Heir 7, Ghosts (A Scary Go Round stand alone story...I really need to read that webcomic, it's like British Scott Pilgrim), two issues of 'The Girly Comic', which I should totally consider submitting to sometime, Amusing Paper (a selection of gag strips with a cute art style) and 'Trixie Biker'(the plot synopsis sounded amazing). I'll talk about these in more detail when I've finished reading them and don't feel so tired.
The journey home was very smooth, except for that, as always travelling on a Saturday night home from Manchester, the train was full of loud, obnoxious football fans coming home from a game, chanting and shouting...ugh shut up! SHUT UP! I don't give a crap about how much you like Man United! >_
